Which AI tools does Leadership Connect work with?
The AI plugin works inside Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot. Connecting is per-user and takes about two minutes. Teams running their own internal AI layer can connect through one of those providers or the API underneath.
What government data does Leadership Connect bring into my AI?
People and policy. That covers government officials (including state and local) and their current roles, career histories, and contact information; organization hierarchies and reporting lines; members of Congress, committees, and congressional staff; legislation and bill sponsors; hearings and hearing transcripts; and relationship intelligence such as shared roles, shared schools, and where people have appeared together.
How is this different from asking ChatGPT or Claude about government directly?

Yes, the AI plugin includes state and local data along with all the people data Leadership Connect researches across the public sector ecosystem including Congress, federal government, media, lobbying, and more.
How current is the data?
Leadership Connect’s research team verifies and updates records on an ongoing basis, because a contact’s value expires the moment someone changes jobs. That is why the connection can tell your AI who holds a role now rather than who held it when your AI model was trained.
Can the AI change anything in my Leadership Connect account?
No. Every tool available through the connection is read-only. Your AI can look information up in Leadership Connect. It will not create, edit, or delete anything.
Is my data or are my prompts used to train anything?
No. The connection brings Leadership Connect’s data into your AI. It does not ingest your documents, your prompts, or your conversations, and it does not train on them.
Does Leadership Connect for AI cost extra?
There is no additional charge to Leadership Connect customers during the beta phase.
What does setup involve, and do I need IT or a developer?
After your admin approves the connection, no development is required. For users, setup is a one-time process that takes about two minutes, and there is no new interface or query syntax to learn. You can disconnect at any time.
How do I get beta access?

Is this an MCP server?
Yes. Under the hood, Leadership Connect for AI is a remote MCP server, the open standard AI tools use to connect to outside data sources. You do not need to know how it works to use it. In Claude it appears as a connector, and in ChatGPT it appears as an app.
